At this location in 1885 the final spike was driven, and the Canadian Pacific connected the Lower Mainland of British Columbia with Eastern Canada. Completion of the rail line was a condition of BC’s entry into the federation. The tourist train slowed but did not stop at this point of significance to the history of Canada and one of its two major railroads.
